13 teams, gathering 67 students, competed for the height exercise of the Student Aerospace Challenge. The reports, returned on May 19th, 2014, were evaluated on June 10th, 2014 by the Steering Committee of the Challenge, composed of partners and experts. The prizes rewarded the following teams:
- Azim’UTBM (UTBM – Belfort-Montbéliard) received Airbus Group Prize for its work related to the improvement of the carrier aircraft;
- Ensicarus (ISAE Ensica – Toulouse) received Dassault Aviation Prize for the structural design and sizing of the attachment between the MSV and carrier aircraft;
- Caien Space (ISAE Ensica - Toulouse) received SAFRAN Prize for its study concerning the the adaptation of a continuous detonation wave engine to the MSV;
- Constellation JAI (Université de Borgogne - Dijon) received THALES Prize for its work on MSV legal aspects.
Art & O’Space (Arts et Métiers Paris Tech - Angers) received the Suborbital Day’s Special Prize for the best presentation during the annual seminar for its work on MSV primary propulsion system, by studying a removable space propulsion module.
Art & O’Space (Arts et Métiers Paris Tech – Bordeaux and Lille) received the ESA Grand Prix for its outstanding work on cabin layout. These students will present their work during the next IAF Congress which will be held in Toronto (Canada) next September.
Prize winning was held on June 24th, 2014 at Le Bourget Air and Space Museum in the frame of the seventh “Suborbital Day”. This seminar enabled the teams to present their work to the other students, the partners and the schools’ representatives. This event concluded the eight exercise of the Student Aerospace Challenge.
